Chicharon Bulacan

bulacan chicharon Chicharon or deep fried pork rind is a very popular treat in the Philippines. There are many places in the Philippines where you can get best tasting chicharon. We bought this one when we went to Bulacanisit in this province is not complete without taking home chicharon as it is one of their best selling products.

Honestly, I can easily get addicted to it and can consume a bag, if not for the fear of high blood pressure afterwards. LOL. And so, instead of indulging myself to this kind of chicharon, I prefer the one without the laman. And oh, I noticed, the best tasting chicharon does not need vinegar for dipping at all.

Yema

When I was a young girl, I use a large part of my daily money allowance to buy this sweet treat. Back then, a small piece only costs about fifty-cents. And I can remember, I would really scrape the thin cellophane to get all of the yema that sticks to it.

yemaI love this treat and yet I do not even know where it came from or how to do it. But based on its taste, I am guessing that it has sugar, lots of sugar. I checked online and found that yema is a Spanish term for egg yolk. But information suggests that the ones we have now are primarily made from condensed milk. No wonder its price is now PhP5 a piece or is it PhP10? Still, I buy them as a treat for myself and the kids.

Marketman sited a link that contains a great recipe in his own post about yema. I will check it out in the coming days and maybe, I can make my girls some.

Aren’t you glad that the food that makes us happy when we were young are still available these days?

APAS Biscuit

APAS Biscuit

Whenever I spot those 3-for-100 stores, I always buy Apas biscuit. This biscuit is very thin, oblong-shaped, topped with sugar. This is native to Philippines. It is so crispy and thin that I can finish a whole pack in less than 5 minutes!

Now that I have kids, it is not only me who is addicted to this biscuits. Whenever I buy this, a pack is no longer enough, even if it contains smaller packs because all of us can finish it in one sitting. My little girls love it to bits that sometimes, they consume everything to themselves!

KFC Spoonfuls

I love KFC because of their tasty chicken and unlimited gravy. Gravy pa lang, ulam na! Eating at KFC without slathering my rice with their gravy is quite a sad experience for me. That is the very reason why I stayed away from it when I was pregnant with my eldest. Right after giving birth, I indulged again to their so good food!

And recently, I am not just after their chicken and gravy. Their spoonful desserts are now in my list too!

One night, hubby came home early with these tasty treats: Mango Cheesecake, Chocolate Tiramisu, Choco Bananapie and Chocolate Mousse. Ayex loved the Chocolate Tiramisu despite the bitter-sweet taste. I on the other hand loved the Mango Cheesecake.

KFC Dessert Spoonfuls

Now, a visit at KFC is not complete without having their heavenly dessert spoonfuls!

Chocolate with Real Milk for Kids

A few months ago, my brother’s girlfriend, who we fondly call Tita Nurse, arrived from London. She worked and studied there for two years. She and my brother were the ones who took care of my eldest daughter when she was just months old, while we were in Las Pinas. You bet, it was not only my brother who missed her much but also Alex.

And when Tita Nurse finally saw Alex again, she cried and threw tantrums at her ballet class. But after Tita Nurse gave her this chocolate, they became friends again. The little girl clung to Tita Nurse as if there is no more tomorrow.

Chocolate with Milk for Kids

I sneaked once on the box and took a piece. This chocolate is really meant for kids because it is not sweet at all. It tastes just right. Plus it got milk in it, very good alternative for picky-eaters such as Alex!
